The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for admissions to undergraduate engineering and pharmacy courses in various universities, government colleges, and self-financing institutions in West Bengal. Demystifying the Exam:

  • What is it? WBJEE is a state-level entrance exam conducted annually by WBJEEB for admissions to B.Tech and B.Pharma courses.

  • When is it held? Typically, the exam is held in April/May, and the application window opens a few months prior.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: Indian citizen or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or specific categories of refugees and migrants of Indian origin.
  • Age: Not exceeding 23 years as of July 31st of the year of admission.
  • Educational Qualification: Must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as mandatory subjects, securing at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories).

Exam Structure:

The WBJEE comprises two papers:

  • Paper 1 (Mathematics): 3 hours duration, 200 objective-type questions.
  • Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry): 3 hours duration, 150 objective-type questions.

Each question carries 1 mark, with no negative marking. The total marks for the exam are 350.
